The Story

November 2024 my husband and I traveled Route 66, from Chicago to California. Texas has so many small towns that have roots and tradition steeped along the Route 66. We stopped in Adrian, Amarillo, Britton, Groom, McClean, Shammrock, and Vega. All of these towns had lots to see and wonderful people to talk with. What I came away with after visiting all these places and talking to all the people, there was a running theme of pride and joy about the part these towns played in the history of Route 66. Traveling Route 66 is something everyone should do in their lifetime. It was very informative and we loved every minute of our travels. This year, 2026, is the 100th year of the Route 66 and all the towns along the route are preparing for thousands of travelers, concider "Getting your kicks on Route 66".
