This is an early homestead tour from The Urban Rescue Ranch, made by Ben Christie and posted in March 2020.

Ben shows how the young animals have grown and explains that he has separated them from their mother so they can be weaned. He introduces Kimchi, a hen who is incubating eggs, and points out a blue cream leg bar egg. Then he sets up a small test on cleaning eggs before incubation: water, Clorox wipes, plain scrubbing, or no cleaning at all. He says the ideal incubating temperature can be anywhere from 99 to 102 degrees.

What gets me is that he tests the advice people argue about instead of just repeating it. The rest of the tour moves through the coop, the duck and pig yards, and the goats.

Ben Christie's channel, The Urban Rescue Ranch, has about 3.4 million subscribers, and his nonprofit is [Waco Wildlife Rescue](https://wacowildliferescue.org/), which rehabilitates injured and orphaned native wildlife. 100% of merch proceeds fund the mission, and donations go through the site. A subscribe on his channel is a tiny, free way to say thanks.

Did you ever hear that eggs should not be cleaned before incubating? What did you do?

Every Bit Texas has no association with The Urban Rescue Ranch or Waco Wildlife Rescue.
